Bleeding.

I wrote this poem about my struggles with CPTSD. Sometimes I’m not sure what is going to cause the next episode. Sometimes moments I think will be triggering won’t phase me at all. Sometimes doing new things unlocks a memory i had blacked out long ago. It can be very difficult to anticipate which situation would spiral me. I used to avoid doing new things to avoid the feelings and potentially triggering episodes . I now keep picking the scabs and invite the feelings in. I do the new things and embrace the process of healing. Over time my CPTSD has lessened. It’s impossible to heal when we make our world so small. The only way to heal is be brave enough to expand ourselves unapologetically. I am here and I no longer need to live in fear of my existence.
