We went to Emmaline's | Victoria BC Restaurant for dinner and left obsessed with this steak!

If you don't know Emmaline's | Victoria BC Restaurant yet — it's Quadra Village's hidden gem, a cozy neighborhood bistro with a menu that's always changing (and stone oven pizza that's not to be missed 🍕).

But this visit, we were there for their flat iron steak, made with our COZY KOJI ｜Japanese KOJI fermentation Shio Koji. Flat iron has a bit of an underdog story — often overlooked, but incredibly tender in the right hands.

Now imagine that cut marinated in our koji. 😳

Chef/Owner, Elizabeth (on the left) experimented for a while to find the exact amount + marinating time to get it just right — you can tell she genuinely loves what she does. 💛

The restaurant itself is warm and cozy, the kind of place you want to linger in, with friendly, passionate staff who made us feel right at home.

A very cozy little café in Chemainus offering a warm community vibe and a commitment to local goodness.

They carry fresh local produce, 2% Jazz coffee, a curated selection of organic teas, farm‑to‑plate baking, daily soups made with in‑season ingredients.

In the freezer section, you’ll find local ice cream, frozen pizza, free‑range eggs, ethical meats, kombucha, COZY KOJI and more — all sourced with care and crafted for comfort💛

They also have a farm on Thetis island and open Saturdays 10am to 1pm!
