Internationally acclaimed nail artist, Zrinka Vuksan Bolancha (Zrinka Vuksan B), is the founder of Zrinka B Nail Academia and the Zer.0 by Zrinka professional nail brand. Her 13 years of industry experience span technical education, product creation and global competition judging – including 13 Nailympia events.

Known for intricate, embellished nail designs, Zrinka’s work spans salon sets to show-stopping competition art. Her latest project, 'Swallow the Key', combines this vast experience to produce eye-catching work.

Conceptualised by London-based stylist, Layla Desjardins, Swallow the Key is a study of curated isolation and the theatre of solitude – viewed through the lens of fashion photography. The editorial ‘captures a character disappearing in plain sight, masking a private collapse behind sculptural silhouettes and high-fashion armour’.

Through bold clothing and embellished nail designs, it explores ‘the heavy tension between the safety of a self-imposed exile and the desperate, visceral hunger to be seen’.

For those who may not know, this technique uses an electric file to meticulously remove cuticles and smooth the nail bed, creating a polished look that enhances nail aesthetics and helps nail enhancements adhere better.

✔️✔️ Advantages of Russian Manicure:
-●Immaculate Finish: This technique leaves nails looking incredibly clean and well-groomed, with no overgrown cuticles in sight.
-●Longer-Lasting Results: Since the cuticles are removed more thoroughly, the manicure stays pristine for longer, reducing the frequency of touch-ups.
●Enhanced Aesthetics: Nail polish or gel adheres more smoothly to the nails, often resulting in a salon-perfect look.
●Great for Nail Enhancements: It's ideal for prepping nails for gel or acrylics, ensuring a strong, lasting bond.

⚠️ The Risks of Unprofessional Handling:
However, when done by someone untrained or using improper tools, the Russian manicure can cause severe damage to your nails and surrounding skin.

➡️➡️Color matters too. Pay attention to the hues in your background and props. Use tones that complement your nail art without overpowering it. Adjust color warmth and saturation to match your vibe, whether it’s bold and bright or soft and elegant.

⚠️Finally, think about composition. Play with angles and hand positioning to make your shots stand out. Try close-ups, side profiles, or creative framings to add variety and interest.

As you practice, stick with what feels authentic to your style and enhances your work. Consistency will make your photos—and your nail art—instantly recognizable.
