Two years ago. Visual Poetry, September 21st 2024.

For one night, my photographs became a space, a gathering, and something we could experience together. Framed, hung on the walls, and shared with a room full of people. Looking back, I think just as much about everything that happened behind the scenes. The planning, the details, the nerves, the people who helped bring it together, and that surreal feeling of something that had lived in my mind becoming something where I can step inside in.

Two years later, I’m still incredibly grateful to everyone who came, collected a piece, and became part of the story.

So much has happened since, but some moments deserve to be revisited. This is one of mine.

Saudade. My favourite Portuguese word, and there isn’t quite an English translation for it.

A longing for someone, somewhere, or something that is no longer with you, but somehow still feels close.

Maybe that’s why I love it so much. Photography has always felt a little like saudade to me. Holding onto a place, a feeling, a fleeting moment, long after I’ve left it behind.
