Dreamwalker Dance opens next week!

In this new work 田天 tiántiān (field/sky), we enter the life stories of Andrea and Judy.
We glimpse the intimate interior of a Chinese village home on the side of a mountain, a river in Wakefield Ontario, a bamboo harvest, open conversations in a car, and the necessary separation of mothers and daughters. Judy and Andrea reveal their own inner emotional lives and histories that shift dreamlike between China and Canada; all reflected through the danced harmony of two exceptional dancers.

SKIM & Maiden China: what if you and i could = us 💄
A multi-disciplinary duet collaboratively created and performed by Kendell Yan and Romi Kim, written for their drag personas Maiden China and SKIM. An experimental play that explores the weight of representation as marginalized members of Korean and Chinese diaspora, the complexities and intersections of transness, gender and sexuality, and what it means to be in their bodies in public and private spheres.
On a shared program with Kimmortal and co-presented by Pride In Arts Society, this project is an iterative work, previously known as “YOU AND I ≠ US”. The script, format, delivery, and supporting media all change with autobiographical consideration to the artists’ lived experience and the context of the space it is performed in.

In Sacred Noise, Kimmortal constructs real-time sonic incantations guided by the movement of fire and the theme of letting go. Weaving improvisational mark-making, filipinx folk-future storytelling, and silly sounds, they form a circle of textured sacred noise.

Shion Skye Carter and elika mojtabaei الیکا مجتبایی: Keepsakes 🍃

The world premiere of Keepsakes is a 1st-time collaboration between choreographer Shion Skye Carter and multidisciplinary artist elika mojtabaei. The artists perform a co-created duet of movement and text that is rooted in childhood, joy, and language. Keepsakes explores the desire to hold onto objects and memories: all the things we can and cannot carry with us.

Hearts & Boots is a q***r puppet performance retelling the myth of Korean goddess Mago using Bratz dolls, miniature sets, and irreverent humor. Blending pop culture with ritual, it explores themes of creation, bodily sovereignty, and ancestral memory, transforming mythology through playful subversion and richly detailed, absurd theatricality.

Lee Su-Feh & Juolin Lee: Tracking The Whole Beast
ahmm’s 2nd performance program is a special feature of Su-Feh and Juolin. Encounter the artists’ living archive that moves between bodies in an evening of performance and conversation. Juolin dances excerpts from Lee Su-Feh's 2008 solo “The Whole Beast”. The artists reflect on ethics that have shaped four decades of artistic practice, examining how choreographic knowledge transforms as it passes from one body to another. What gets preserved in this transmission? What gets lost, mistranslated, or newly discovered?
