There’s a Jamaican proverb that says, “Every mickle mek ah muckle”, meaning every small effort has meaning and value towards the greater goal.

Another summer has come and gone leaving so much in her wake; the unbearable cost of living, climate crisis, food insecurity, and individualism in the oligarchy. How do we survive the times, if not in the care of community? How do tussle with capitalism if not in mutual aid and loving kindness? Every stylist and volunteer that comes back to our Reading Salon year after year does it for one reason: Because we NEED each other.
Families from ACROSS THE CITY attend our Reading Salons because of the intention we put into this care. It’s deeper than ticking the IMPACT and OUTCOMES box. It’s about dignifying Black families and Black youth in our collective fight against capitalism.

Join us in celebration of our 3rd year of black joy and freedom through learning and literacy, because the mind is a terrible thing to waste

Things are happening fast for the reading salon that is now only 6 days away!!🥹 We are looking for a few volunteer readers for our salon. We are seeking Teachers, Elders, Artists of all mediums, Aunties & Caregivers to come and read their favorite children's book, or a passage from their favorite young adult's book suited for kids grades 3 and up. Only a few slots left!
