Did you know that July 17th, one month from today, is the actual birthday of Canada’s Legions? I’m super excited to be performing on the day the war ended in 1945, in Port Elgin, Ontario, on this special day! I’m also thrilled that the Tara Legion has booked the show for this November 11, for Remembrance Day 2026!
Inspired by the greatest song-writers that ever were... the song-writers from WWII, my story is told from the perspective of my aunt who has just married her soldier-love on a weekend leave. We follow “Viv” through the war, through the loving and the leaving, the letters and the worrying, the waiting and the wondering. They called it “falling in love” and everyone wanted to try it!
Featuring: Stevie Vallance as “Viv”, and John McLelland as “Harry”
Date of Event: July 17, 2026
Time of Event: 6 - 9 PM (Show: 6:30 - 8:30)
Location: The PORT ELGIN LEGION, Branch #340, 630 Green St., Port Elgin

This 90-minute live musical performance is created and performed by Southampton, Ontario, resident Emmy award-winning actress, playwright and singer Stevie Vallance, and will feature Love songs of WWII.
Portraying her aunt dressed in uniform as an RCAF clerk, Vallance captures the period of 1938 to 1945 by singing the popular love songs of WW2, while photos of local veterans and historical scenes of Saugeen Shores supplied by war-researcher George William Streeter, are projected on a large screen in the background. Vallance requests that the audience bring/wear family War memorabilia such as ribbons, caps, and jackets, and that they stay after the show to share their stories with each other.
“Viv” loved cats. At one time she had 40 at the same time and so proceeds from the theatrical play and Art sales will always go towards helping cats/animals.
