Post WWII a family of Dutch immigrants arrive at Union Station, Toronto, Canada. September 18, 1948.

Due to the devastating after-math of WWII throughout Europe, post-war emigration peaked between 1948 and 1963. A significant number of Dutch citizens, and the citizens of many European nations, moved to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.

The post-war wave of migration to various countries, reflected broader economic and social changes, affecting many European nations.

In the photo, a volunteer woman of the Canadian Red Cross Service greets a family of newly arrived Dutch immigrants at Union Station in downtown Toronto, offering welcoming assistance and light refreshments of snacks and beverages to the family.

Before the days of Home Economics and Etiquette Class for young girls, there was also the "Mothers' Class" offered by the Board of Education, to educate young girls with the skills and knowledge required to care for infants and toddlers.

During the early 1900's, girls in Toronto attended the Little Mothers' classes in a classroom setting, and gained practical life skills required to perform infant and child care duties.

This early 1900s photo was taken in the High Park ward area of Toronto, on July 30, 1913

In the photo, a female special educator of the Board of Education, demonstrates to a group of young female students the correct physical techniques of handling an infant.

Good things grow in Ontario. May 22, 1927 photo of Blossoms in Grimsby, at the historic fruit tree garden of E.D. Smith.

In the early 1900's, E.D. Smith grew fruit trees on a few acres. With these fruits of his labor, he became the first producer of pure fruit jam in Canada.

To this day, E.D. Smith fruit jam continues to be produced in Grimsby, Ontario, keeping the heritage of a Canadian legacy.
