Are you ready for a new Snoh album? 😭

Snoh Aalegra has never been in a hurry. Three albums in, her career has been built on patience: the slow-burning heartache of ‘FEELS,’ the late-night longing of ‘Ugh, those feels again’ and the lush, wide-open ‘Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies’ in 2021.

‘Run Free’ is her first new single since 2023, and it comes with a video directed by Alfred Marroquin. On her new website, alegendarylove.com, a pixelated cover sits next to her three albums, and fans are already speculating that the follow-up to ‘Temporary Highs’ is on the way.

Which duet off ‘Synonym’ are you playing first? 💚

Meshell Ndegeocello has spent three decades proving a familiar song can still surprise you. On ‘Synonym,’ she pairs classics with voices you wouldn’t expect: Chaka Khan on ‘Islands in the Stream,’ Destin Conrad and Moses Sumney trading lines on ‘The Closer I Get To You,’ Lianne La Havas on ‘Don’t Look Any Further,’ and WILLOW taking on Temple of the Dog’s ‘Hunger Strike.’ Every song is a duet between two artists who share the same gender expression, and she told Blue Note the album is “an expression of q***r liberation as a synonym for liberation of all kinds.” It also brings her back together with David Gamson, the producer behind her 1993 debut, ‘Plantation Lullabies.’

What’s your favorite Freddie Jackson song? 🕊️

Freddie Jackson passed away Monday night. His family shared the news on his social media, saying he “went home to rest last night,” and asked fans to keep his loved ones in their prayers.

Born and raised in Harlem, Freddie arrived in 1985 with his debut album, ‘Rock Me Tonight,’ and spent the rest of the decade as one of the defining voices of quiet storm. ‘You Are My Lady’ went to No. 1 on the R&B chart that fall, and his records became the soundtrack to slow dances, weddings and late-night radio for a generation.

His family said arrangements and ways to honor his legacy will be shared in the coming days.

Rest in peace, Freddie.
