Our cast is exploring the era not only through the story, but through movement—learning a dance inspired by the period to help bring the world of the play to life.

A huge thank you to the gracious and talented Karen Millyard of Jane Austen Dancing for teaching our cast the steps and helping us connect with the spirit of the era. 💃

What a fantastic start! 📖✨

Our cast and crew gathered for the first read-through of Frankenstein by Nick Dear, directed by Sheila Gatensby, and the room was filled with incredible talent, energy, and excitement. It's already clear this production is going to be something special.

We're looking forward to diving into rehearsals and bringing this haunting story to life. Get ready for thrills, chills, and unforgettable theatre this October!

Along with so many theatre communities across Greater Toronto, we are saddened to share that we have lost a talented actor and dear friend known by so many, Stephen Flett. His last Players' production was as the frustrated snake fearing tax collector Henderson in You Can't Take It with You in April 2025.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family, as well as the entire theatre community who had the privilege of sharing the stage with him. Rest in peace, Stephen. You will be missed.

Over 3 nights of auditions, 40 actors requested the opportunity to be a part of this show. There were difficult choices and some easy ones! Meet the company of 14 who will occupy the world created by Mary Shelley and adapted for the stage by Nick Dear.

✨Meet the cast of Arcadia! ✨
Nathan McFadden, aged 13, is very excited to be a part of Arcadia as Gus and Augustus Coverly. This is his Scarborough Players debut, however, he has worked with Scarborough Music Theatre Youth for several years prior, appearing in productions such as Legally Blonde Jr., Grease, Joseph and Anne of Green Gables. In his free time, Nathan enjoys reading, playing hockey and doing his homework. He would like to thank his parents for driving him to rehearsals and also Amanda Sinclair & Elizabeth Van Wyck for introducing him to music theatre.

✨Meet the cast of Arcadia! ✨
Introducing Josh Maclean as Valentine Coverly! This is Josh’s third time being in a Scarborough Players production after The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time in 2023 and Shakespeare in Love in 2024. He is excited to work with an amazing cast and crew and is excited to help tell an amazing story. Some of his credits outside of community theatre include Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods, Pinocchio in Shrek the Musical, and Olin Britt in The Music Man.

✨Meet the cast of Arcadia! ✨
Introducing Yael Sher as Chloe Coverly! Yael is a Rotman Commerce graduate from the University of Toronto, specialising in Finance and Economics. She grew up in Cambridge, England, and has been performing ever since she can remember. Select credits: Amanda Wingfield (The Glass Menagerie, Thaumatrope Theatre), Hortensio (The Taming of the Shrew, TCDS), Linda Kerwood (Tom, Dick and Harry, TCDS), Eloise Joyce (Tickless Time, VCDS). Arcadia is Yael’s first show with Scarborough Players, and she is delighted to join this extraordinary cast and crew.
