The concept for this poster was inspired by Denisse Ariana Pérez "One, Two, Three Boys in the Senegal River", in which photographs only parts of the boys' bodies in the Senegal River.

I was intrigued by only seeing parts of their bodies in her photograph and was interested in what stories that could tell in relation to "Les Frères": The Wilsen brothers are in water to convey how each brother is dealing with multiple life and death situations. Water explores how they are unable to communicate with each other nor understand the extent to which they are drowning.

Water represents the womb, hence "body" of water. Each brother comes from the same womb, yet turn out so differently, which is portrayed in how they choose to deal with pain and suffering differently.

Water is also indicative of the multiple natural disasters that have occurred in Haiti: the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the 2016 Hurricane Matthew, which caused heavy flooding and destruction in Haiti and the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that ravaged the island this past October.

As a director, I'm constantly exploring the possibilities of staging these meanings, thank you Taras Ostapchuk for bringing them to life!!!

Hello VJP family! I know it's been a little quiet on here but we promise there is a lot coming up this year that we are excited to announce :D I'm super excited to share with you my debut book called '45 Confessions from the Black Girl Next door' It is a book of 45 Confessions and most of them are supplemented with poems and short stories. It was a very personal project for me that I wrote two years ago! It has been published for just over a week and has been on the top bestseller list on Amazon Canada for African Poetry!
