We have a special performance lined up for Tuesday! Say hello to - she was one of the participants last year for our community consult for the program, and is now blessing us with vocals at the showcase 🎙️

Emerging from the vibrant Toronto music scene, Jerushah is a soulful vocalist ready to leave her mark. For her, music is more than a passion—it's a lifelong journey that has served as both therapy and an escape. As a Q***r, Black female artist, Jerushah’s lyrics delve into themes of self-discovery and reflection, following in the footsteps of musical pioneers.

"Music was the only thing that made sense of me when I couldn't get the best of me," she shares. With a husky bass tone that blends pop and jazz, Jerushah adds a fresh, emotionally rich perspective to modern Soul music. Influences from icons like Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu, and Sade have shaped her unique and vibrant style.

Since 2010, Jerushah has been a rising star in Canada’s underground music scene. Now, she's ready to break into the North American and European mainstream, poised to make a lasting impact.

THE EVENT:
It’s the end of an era! Please come join us Tuesday October 1, from 7:30PM - 10PM at The Theatre Centre, for our reTelling art showcase. For 12 weeks this summer, we ran online workshops in a series of artistic disciplines and the chance for young emerging artists to participate in this exhibition and publishing opportunity. The project is going to culminate in an artbook containing everyone’s work.

The Broke Gallery was first started in 2016, originally as a one night pop-up gallery. It grew into a semi-yearly event and workshop in various shapes over the years. Though the pandemic slowed us down, we are now at the final event for this small project - it is time to close this chapter, so another can be written.

We look forward to having a night of art, music, and good vibes - see you there!

This project has been funded with the support of ArtReach and the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council.
