EARLY BIRD DEADLINE IS TOMORROW!

Submitting to festivals isn’t just about having a great film- it’s about not shooting yourself in the foot before anyone even hits play. 👍🏻

Programmers are watching hundreds (sometimes thousands) of submissions. Let that sink in 😵‍💫.

Small mistakes - especially in sound, materials, and strategy - can quietly push your film out of the running.

If you want your film to stand out, you have to think beyond the cut… and consider how it’s being presented.

The horror nomination no one is talking about… and honestly, we’re obsessed.

While everyone debates the big categories, one of the most exciting nominations this year belongs to The Ugly Stepsister for Best Makeup & Hairstyling for the stunning practical work of David White, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, and Asta Hafthorsdottir. Their grotesque fairy-tale transformations prove once again that horror pushes makeup artistry further than any other genre.

It’s also part of a long tradition. Some of the most iconic Oscar-winning makeup effects came from horror: An American Werewolf in London, The Fly, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

When the Academy rewards transformation, monsters, and unforgettable practical effects… horror tends to win.

Do the Oscars hate horror… or are they just scared of it? 👀

For decades, the Academy has treated horror like the creepy kid sitting alone at lunch. Loved by audiences. Hugely influential. And almost never invited to the party.

Let’s review the evidence.
• The Shining — one of the most influential horror films ever made. 0 nominations.
• Hereditary — Toni Collette gave a performance that traumatized the entire internet. 0 nominations.
• The Thing — groundbreaking practical effects. 0 nominations.
• The Witch — launched a thousand elevated horror think pieces. 0 nominations.
• The Babadook — cultural icon, q***r icon, psychological horror masterpiece. 0 nominations.

And yet horror keeps shaping the industry anyway.

To be fair, the Academy occasionally lets horror into the house:
The Silence of the Lambs swept the Big Five.
Get Out won Best Original Screenplay.
The Exorcist was nominated for Best Picture.

Which brings us to this year.

With horror dominating the cultural conversation and awards buzz circling genre films again… we might finally see the Academy admit what horror fans have always known:

The genre isn’t a guilty pleasure.
It’s some of the most daring filmmaking out there.

So tell us…
Is the Academy finally ready to stop ghosting horror? 🎬👻

No 13th floors.
No Room 13.
No Gate 13.

We said,
“You know what? Let’s just skip it.”

The number is still there.
We’re just pretending it’s not.

Any other spooky facts we missed?
