I love to work with and find great talent. Always have. I’m learning that you have to tell your own story, or badmind will rewrite it to suit their own egos.
When it comes to music, over the years I’ve worked with the biggest artists in the world. I’ve seen greatness at the demo tape and mixtape level, all the way to artists becoming the biggest entertainers on the planet. From my family badgalriri (was on her demo and we collaborated on her first album), champagnepapi (was on his COMEBACK SEASON mixtape), KING OF DANCEHALL (was on 2004 album on a song called “Kartel and Kardinal), and worked with countless others, including Busta Rhymes, Lady Gaga , AKON of course, Stephen Marley, SEAN PAUL, Chino Mcgregor, Rodney BOUNTY KILLER Price OD and in 2014 collab’d with a young artist starting his career named Masicka.
I worked with Def Jam Recordings and tunji for the past few years, and have had the privilege to contribute in many ways to some brand new artists and some incredible more established talent. When I started working with Def Jam, Tunji, LaTrice and I embarked on a journey with one of dancehall’s most promising young stars- 🥇Syde.. Gifted hands 📝. He just released 438 and his star power was going UPPPPP.
Madddd flights to Jamaica, nuff studio sessions around the world, zooms, hundreds of phone calls, favours, ubers, emails, dinners, early morning and late night reasonings for years and years and we put out GENERATION OF KINGS and his latest FOREVER REIGN. Masicka is one of the HARDEST WORKING and most CONSISTENT artists I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Humble, intelligent, creative, and active.
Musically, Dancehall is wayyyyy worse than hip-hop, when it comes to beefs, badmind, arguments, picking sides etc-so it can be tough for me to navigate when I respect all great artists and have worked with so many that dont necessarily get along with each other. However, as a big man, I choose the side of God, and God alone. It’s been a supreme blessing to be able to contribute to Masicka’s journey and i’m happy to see him receive his flowers AND credit while he is alive to enjoy. He represents a generation of kings (plural) very well and will forever reign. &R
