Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we remember the children who never came home, honour the Survivors, and acknowledge the generations who continue to carry these impacts. 🧡

The little boy pictured here is my father. He was only 10 years old when he was taken from his family and sent to Birtle Indian Residential School in Manitoba. Because he was tall for his age, he was placed with the older children because they didn’t know how old he was.

He was just a boy who had to grow up far too quickly in order to survive.

Today, I honour my Até (father) and all the Survivors whose stories must never be forgotten.
