Three years since October 7, and I still don’t think there are really words that can explain the weight of that day and everything that has happened since. 💔
The loss was so much bigger than what happened in those hours. It was the lives lost, the hostages, the families forever changed, and then the suffering that continued long after that day as people tried to live with what they had seen, experienced and lost.
There are certain faces and stories that I know I will never forget. The young people at the festival, the families taken from their homes, the hostages who never made it home and the little children whose lives were taken or forever changed. Some stories just stay with you and become a part of you.
And then there is everything that came after, which has been incredibly painful in its own way. Watching people justify what happened, call it “resistance,” deny what happened and somehow question the suffering of the people who actually lived through it.
But through all of this, one thing has become even more clear to me: we have each other. We come together, we love each other, we celebrate, we raise our children, we keep our traditions alive and we continue showing up for one another, even when there is so much hate around us.🇮🇱
We’ve been tested more times than anyone should ever have to be, and somehow we are still here, still together and still finding ways to choose love, family, community and joy.✡️
Today we remember everyone we lost, everyone who was taken, everyone who survived and everyone who is still carrying October 7 with them.😢
We remember, and we will NEVER, EVER forget. 🕯️
