This was supposed to be just one piece.
The original idea was a burning peony and a moth wrapping around the lower forearm. It was limiting what the idea could become.
I loved the concept. But I didn’t love the placement.
So instead of forcing the design into one spot, I started building around the whole arm.
One element led to another, and eventually the project became a full sleeve.
And then I added this little detail… just because it felt right. Sometimes the smallest details give the whole piece character.
This is why creative freedom matters.
Your idea is the starting point. Composition, placement and flow are where the artist should help.
If you chose an artist because you trust their work, give them enough freedom to give you their best work.
