Sourcing begins with searching for inspiration in art markets,
held within cities. From there, the next step is travelling to villages
and towns to experience the process of carving, textile production,
or basket weaving–literally going to the source. The search of great
art can sometimes take us to remote places in order to meet
the artists, and witness the creation of art in action.

Each unique, hand-crafted art piece is carefully sourced
and added to our website with care.

From the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, Buhera baskets are carefully handmade by the Bohero people using natural plant fibers and vines. As is common with handmade products,
each basket form slightly differs, while maintaining a sculptural and organic power throughout. Handmade, organic baskets are gathered on our website.

Unique to each region, textiles made of natural cottons and dyes are created with traditional techniques, including hand looming, hand dying, and left to dry in the sun. Pictured here from the Kuba region in central Africa and traditionally used as a wraparound skirt, the woven cloth is made from raffia and captures complex designs of great cultural importance. Traditional textiles of varying shapes, styles, and colours are collected on our website.

families and immersed in the communities has solidified the idea
that each piece of art is storied, and meant to be cherished
and admired.
