DATELINE: Oakville February 23rd.

TWO MORE TEAMS LOST THEIR BATTLE FOR THE TEACUP. February 23rd rocked the league with Provervisers two down, and a strong mature opposition in Bald Faced, twice their manpower, and four times their age.
But Provervisers, despite their initial handicap and technical weakness and gangly limbs, impressed the judges throughout the match.
In the first match the audience discovered player Williams was actually Bédard in a wig. Fans were shocked to see the powerful wig handling, and then straight into a ‘heart-rending” reduction scene that really "slapped". Bald came back with a four-square multi-layered scene bonanza which may have been slowed by some of the older knees on the team.
Jack and the Beanstalk (which has frankly historically stumped many a team, narratively) went as long as the beanstalk. Genres helped distract from the length but Bald countered with a call centre using the other team as objects. Sabotage? Likewise Bald’s “confined” small sewer virtually reeked of plodding (or should we say “plopping”) justifications for entrances and exits to the murky depths.
Prover’s murderous gibberish devolved into silence, and yet the fourth inception came close to actually solving the answers and the score tied up 27-27. And speaking of inception — the tie breaker was Bald’s re-telling of the movie Inception in one minute, which to this reporter’s mind was the preferred length for that film. The judges ruled for Bald Faced and Provers are squeezed out of the tournament in overtime. It’s a Canadian thing.

In the second match, the room was buzzing with the energy and sheer volume of Hall and Livingston (ZING!). Yes Ampersand came in swinging with a scene during end times (which, during this news cycle, audiences could certainly relate to). Zombies, brains and Ice cream was sticky for the judges. ZING! returned with a Sit Stand Lie, but truth be told, ZING moved too fast for the audience to comment.
Good calls for F-R from Hopkins, side coaching with the patience of a curling skip. Feilchenfeld’s strumming was a dramatic add to a small sentient spork, but it was Hall who Frito Lay’d to rest the competition, by having the whole audience singing the crunchy chorus of “Potato Chips”, the musical.
Yes, Ampersand is the fourth team eliminated from the TeaCup, but with their heads held high (also, they are quite tall).

On March 2nd, APB will meet James’ Team in Match 11 and ZING faces off against Bald Faced in Match 12, their's the final elimination round before the finals on March 13th.

Dateline Oakville Feb 13th Update of TeaCup results:

The precision practice regimen of Yes Ampersand was in full force last Friday as the team took to the stage with props and small stringed instruments. They were ready for anything. Opposition team, APB, came out, two players missing out of three. McKenzie seemed off kilter, but used the coin toss win to defer the challenge and buy some time. No real help from the inanimate Kapur Head or the Cooper Mouse substitutions.

The first switching challenge from Ampersand employed an Evil Twin handle. Feilchenfeld’s feints stalled the demonic Hopkins but the scene was “swamped” with repetitive location dialogue. The response was film dubbing, using the assists of excellent physicality by Fisher and Sikora. McKenzie’s mic handling was excellent but the double-voicing made little sense narratively, despite the strong character separation.

The Shakespeare scene was fair but fouled on making Smelly James clean. The Soap Opera from Ampersand should have won them the match on the VMG’s alone. Nobody could follow the family tree, but that’s what made it good.

McKenzie was pummelled with tomatoes in the face during Puppets — the director’s cut was “choppy” because Hopkins knew what was needed.

In the end the final scene in the escape room “masked” McKenzie’s lack of expertise in actual escape rooms, but APB strangely took the match despite the caffeinated musical stylings of Yes Ampersand, and Hopkins thrilling but incessant jumping jitters.

In the second half, The Provervisers ALSO deferred the challenge (historic) to James’ Team, which pushed heavily on the mime and hard on the French accents. Neither seemed appropriate but in the end there were moments of pure verisimilitude. Response from the Provers was a love triangle that also, strangely, began in a swamp. The team was barely heard in the very back some times but drew big laughs from the orchestra seats.

Ethan Hunt the Musical: Mission Impossible Redux was a shocking spectacle but took a hit when the accents arrived and left again. Still, the singing kept the audience engaged and the duo hit an ending on their feet. Prover’s look look away was eye-catching (mostly), and the choose your own adventure got a little lost in the weeds during the final countdown. James’ Team had only two minutes to wrap up, and filled in the blanks by winning the match

Povervisers meet Bald Faced and Yes, Ampersand will face off against ZING! on February 23rd, in Music Room #1 after the Monday night drop in.

Dateline: Oakville.

The first elimination matches of the 2026 TeaCup Tournament are over!

Bald Faced opened with a complex introduction, which mutated as quickly as Ellis’ lothario demon.
Barbosa pulled out all the saccharine cutie stops, but the physicality of Dudley’s lithe “patiner”, won the judges over in the first round.
Citzens of Trohoc similarly hog-tied by the introduction of a “one word salad” ended on their feet with unexpected Carpenter dunks and consistent comedic support by Captain Wieclawski.
Double kudos for pushing Post-Bad Bunny politicizing of the art form, Trohocian-languistical love poetry, which left the audience desperate for interpretation.
Bald Faced’s “shame” prompt went full Dust Busters in a darker human remains story of loss, shards, and ghostly (or is that GHASTLY) apparitions. Despite the strong comedic showing, both in uniform and synchronized walking, Citizens of Trohoc was ultimately eliminated from the TeaCup in the first half of the night.

The second half was full of fearless youth and Livingston’s chewing gum. Missing their teammate Ernst Zhang (who has yet to be found), Inconspicous Toasts came back to the field with some polished openings -- Bédard intro-ing “Should’a Said” in seven point one seconds. A record for this team. With all three on stage there were concerns for confusion, but the fertilizer just kept getting piled on. Some nice object support work from Dunn and creepy leaping from Bédard. ZING! came out of the gate with a dangerous shifting forward reverse with more than one spit take and floss fouls. Officials are still ruling on the legality of the mash up. Nonetheless, Toasts wouldn’t look away from their sibling scene and ZING’S response was an overabundance what sounded like songs. Tenacity won out for them, though, with a date replay and a rubber chicken. Toast couldn’t rise to the final score, even with solid pillars and TWO audience members. Toast was toast and is eliminated from the tournament. The audience will miss them.

The next night of the Tournament will be FRIDAY THE 13th! (APB vs YES AMPERSAND and PROVERVISERS VS JAMES' TEAM)

We'd love to see you at our shows coming up ... so, you know ... clear the snow from all these things!

❄️ Winter Safety Reminder ❄️

With the recent snowfall, please take a moment to clear snow from all exterior vents around your home, including furnace, dryer, and generator vents.

Blocked vents can cause dangerous carbon monoxide buildup and reduce proper airflow. Even a few minutes of clearing can make a big difference for your family’s safety.

✔️ Check vents at ground level
✔️ Keep them clear after plowing or shoveling
✔️ Re-check during ongoing or heavy snowfall

Please share this reminder with neighbours, especially seniors or anyone who may need a hand. Staying safe is a community effort.

Dateline Oakville: January 26, 2026
The second TeaCup contest was the night after the big snowstorm. Tough to pull a crowd when some sidewalks were still impassable but QEPCCC was ready and a loyal audience came out to see Games Three and Four.

The first match saw ProverVisers (down a performer) making the most of Williams’ verbal acuity and Horn’s emotional expertise. Inconspicuous Toasts used their 2026 physical strategy, employing their complex digging and dubbing skills — at the same time, mostly. In the end, Prover’s tumultuous landfill love and Film Noir smoking choked out the Toasts by five. Even though Big Bird continued to loom at the door, nobody would look, look away.

The second match had one more performers from each team MIA, although to be fair, Zing never had a real third, and it’s possible they just didn’t ask anyone. Nonetheless the pressure was on for James’ team who fought hard with problematic identities and stolen props.
Their ultra broom violence was appreciated by the mostly adult audience, although their sounds somewhat like a song really felt like it went into overtime.

Zing initiated multiple verbal Jute attempts and yet managed a good score with their final sales pitch. Hall and Livingston pulled out all the stops with two poignant relationship scenes that were only worrisome if you imagined they were real. The elevator was enormous.
In the end, the lustful tie-breaker gave the best love to James’ Team
