cultures of origin. Yasmina teaches the same way she learned in Egypt and Syria, free from the Western constructs of levels. “Raqs Sharqi” translates as Middle Eastern Dance which includes many styles. The term “Bellydance” or “Belly Dance” was invented in the USA in 1893 to commercially label what is today’s most famous style. Yasmina Ramzy Arts prefers to use the original name in its cultural language expressed in the spirit of community joy.
