Happy 22sday!
So, I wasn’t going to post anything today. My “need-to-do” list is very long as I am sure it is for everyone (even tho summer is for relaxing?). Don’t get me wrong I’m loving every minute of the creating and show/market season but I am looking forward to the quiet winter months of studio time.

Yesterday Studio 22 was filled with laughter, music, dancing… and yes, a little painting too!

This fun group of ladies, who usually bowl and golf together, switched things up and spent the morning creating together before the rain arrived. Every canvas became a collaboration, every song brought a smile, and every artist headed home with one-of-a-kind paintings touched by everyone’s brush.

Inside Studio 22

A little late posting today (did anyone notice? lol). All the balls are in the air at the moment. No matter how much I make during the winter “downtime,” I never feel like I have enough ready for you.

Jewellery – I’m making more jewellery as my beach glass pieces have become very popular, along with my teacup jewellery and, new this year, my 3D-printed bracelets, necklaces and more.

TRAsh Bags – I have two unique totes to finish that I know you’ll love… Breakfast in America and Aerosmith.

Fine Art – Several of my paintings have found new homes, so I’ve recently finished three new ones that I’ve been working on for several months. A new painting is now in its composition/colour/value stage (see the black and white video). Soon I’ll spend several weeks adding the details, energy and rhythm that bring it to life.

Switcheroo Paint Events (open Studio time) are still being planned around weather (raining here today) and life, but bookings are being accepted.

Watch for a website update (soon… I promise!) and catch me in Grand Bend, Bayfield and Stratford.

If you’ve made it this far, I’d love a little sign that I’m not just talking to myself. (Although these Tuesday posts do help me feel a little more organized.)

Inside Studio 22

Summer is a busy season for painters and makers. Between shows, creating, and everything that goes into running a creative business, we are always looking for little pockets of calm.

While in Stratford on Sunday, we found ours through another creative who shared his talent. Across the river, a musician was playing Blue Skies, and it felt like he was playing just for us. We don’t know who he was, but we would like to thank him and everyone who helps us find our calm in the middle of a busy season.

We do what we love, hoping it touches someone the way his music touched us.

Switcheroo Tuesdays at Studio 22 🎨

11:00 a.m. – 1:00ish p.m.

What is Switcheroo?
A fun, collaborative painting experience where the canvases are switched every time the music changes. Everyone paints on every canvas, and each participant takes home one-of-a-kind artwork touched by everyone in the group.

Who should attend?
● Groups of 4 or more work best.
● Ages 16+.
● Everyone is welcome—from someone who has never picked up a paintbrush to the seasoned artist.
● Relaxed, welcoming, and completely non-judgmental.

Why attend?
You’ll discover new creative possibilities while laughing, chatting, singing (and maybe even dancing!), all while creating art together. It’s amazing what happens when you let go, trust the process, and have fun.

What’s included?
● Canvases, acrylic paints, brushes, palettes, etc. and a little guidance
● Inspiration from the Studio 22 gardens (the colours are starting to pop!), the labyrinth, and great music
● Light refreshments
● $5 Studio 22 boutique credit

What should I bring?
● Clothes that can handle a little paint
● An openness to try something new and have fun!

Inside Studio 22

For the past several months, I have been working (not the right word to describe my process as I find it pure joy and not work) on a couple of new paintings. My detail process takes a long time (approx 60 hours on this 36” sq). I love every minute of it.

This painting has made many turns, literally. I was almost finished but something wasn’t sitting right with me so I turned it a couple of times and caught something new I hadn’t seen before. It had the rhythm I was looking for. I then developed it further to this final stage.

How do I know it’s the final stage?
I can see it sing.

This one is called Deeply Dippy
(by Right Said Fred).

I’ll reveal all the colours in Stratford (fingers crossed for good weather) on Thursday and/or Saturday and Sunday. Or you can drop in Studio 22 today (Tuesday)
1-3 pm
to see and I’ll play you the song.
