Inside Studio 22

Summer is a busy season for painters and makers. Between shows, creating, and everything that goes into running a creative business, we are always looking for little pockets of calm.

While in Stratford on Sunday, we found ours through another creative who shared his talent. Across the river, a musician was playing Blue Skies, and it felt like he was playing just for us. We don’t know who he was, but we would like to thank him and everyone who helps us find our calm in the middle of a busy season.

We do what we love, hoping it touches someone the way his music touched us.

Switcheroo Tuesdays at Studio 22 🎨

What is Switcheroo?
A fun, collaborative painting experience where the canvases are switched every time the music changes. Everyone paints on every canvas, and each participant takes home one-of-a-kind artwork touched by everyone in the group.

Who should attend?
â—Ź Groups of 4 or more work best.
â—Ź Ages 16+.
● Everyone is welcome—from someone who has never picked up a paintbrush to the seasoned artist.
â—Ź Relaxed, welcoming, and completely non-judgmental.

Why attend?
You’ll discover new creative possibilities while laughing, chatting, singing (and maybe even dancing!), all while creating art together. It’s amazing what happens when you let go, trust the process, and have fun.

What’s included?
â—Ź Canvases, acrylic paints, brushes, palettes, etc. and a little guidance
â—Ź Inspiration from the Studio 22 gardens (the colours are starting to pop!), the labyrinth, and great music
â—Ź Light refreshments
â—Ź $5 Studio 22 boutique credit

What should I bring?
â—Ź Clothes that can handle a little paint
â—Ź An openness to try something new and have fun!

$55 per person

Private Switcheroo Events
(Book your own day for a group of 4 or more.)
$65 per person

Registration:
Payment is due on the day of the event.
Your word is your registration, and an easel will be waiting for you.

Happy 22sday
Inside Studio 22

For the past several months, I have been working (not the right word to describe my process as I find it pure joy and not work) on a couple of new paintings. My detail process takes a long time (approx 60 hours on this 36” sq). I love every minute of it.

This painting has made many turns, literally. I was almost finished but something wasn’t sitting right with me so I turned it a couple of times and caught something new I hadn’t seen before. It had the rhythm I was looking for. I then developed it further to this final stage.

How do I know it’s the final stage?
I can see it sing.

This one is called Deeply Dippy
(by Right Said Fred).

I’ll reveal all the colours in Stratford (fingers crossed for good weather) on Thursday and/or Saturday and Sunday. Or you can drop in Studio 22 today (Tuesday)
1-3 pm
to see and I’ll play you the song.

(Sorry for the long ramble but I want to use my own voice and not a robot.)

Happy 22sday!
Do you have a porch goose? Lol

I feel like I’m a little late to the party and I usually go in the opposite direction of a trend, but this made me giggle.

I’ve had the goose for years placing it naked in the garden. I recently saw the cutest dressed up goose ever at a relative’s home and I had to make one myself. She sits on my studio porch on a golden table I plan on upcycling when time allows.

The egg was a random find. I added gold leaf to it and tucked a solar light inside (cuz everything must have a solar light!). Of course, I also had a box of leis from my Switcheroo events.

It reminds me to be thankful daily for all the “gold” in my life and every time I walk into Studio 22, it makes me smile.

I may or may not have been influenced by The Price is Right’s Switcheroo game when naming my paint parties! What are the chances of me seeing this 40 years after originally airing, the contestant getting 2 right and the travel case is $22!

A collaborative painting adventure where ALL levels of art experience are welcome.

Come on your own or bring your friends and family!
We start with a series of fun 22 second drawing rounds. Then, you will create 2 canvas paintings. When the music changes, so does the canvas, with each “artist” adding their own touch. Add, paint over, turn upside down - no rules. Just art, music, and laughter. You will be surprised how your first paint strokes evolve into collaborative artwork!

$55 per person for open groups
$65 person for private groups
