“The Seafarers’ Requiem” by Mary Knickle, May 2026

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this fantastic concert. This Celtic-classical fusion work was truly inspiring, and it was heartwarming to see it so well-received by its audience.

Special thanks to conductor Stephen Candow for his leadership on and off the podium, and event photographer Alick Tsui for the wonderful photos. Most of all, thank you to composer Mary Knickle Music the opportunity to perform this music, and bring its story to the stage.

Tomorrow is the big day! Come see us perform in The Kirk on Sunday, May 10th. We can’t wait to see you there and make some magic together.🎵🌊

“The Seafarers’ Requiem” is a Celtic and classical fusion that combines the Requiem Mass and seafarer songs with tales of true stories, taken from archives and documentaries about mariners and the people they leave behind.

Composed by Mary Knickle, The Seafarers’ Requiem is a profoundly haunting piece. It was written to honour those who have lost their lives at sea, be they: fishermen, solo sailors or naval personnel, and those left on land.
