After some agonizing debate and heavy hearts the board and volunteers for PASCAR are officially shifting our focus to next year.

We thank the Souris Glenwood Airport Committee and the members and member organizations on the board, the racers who have supported us (special wave to those who preregistered in hope that we could salvage a few race days this summer)... of course thanks to our volunteers who have been willing to step up and do site work as well as committing to blocking their calendars and sharing their time and passion with us at and inbetween race dates. We thank the fans and media who have been patient and hopeful we could return to playing in the dirt!! Thanks to all these supporters and the many more through the community that support us in large and small ways.

Originally, we never expected to be able to even have a chance to run a race this year as the COVID restrictions were looking strong through to September... then... Manitobans did the right things and we saw no cases for weeks and hope blossomed as the province began lifting restrictions and we dared to plan to open the track and race... then the rains & flooding came and now COVID is hitting our area/community harder than it did the first round.

We hope that the racers, fans and volunteers and other stakeholders will join us in looking forward to and setting the stage for next year so we may return with a fresh and energized community of race enthusiasts and reclaim and more fully appreciate our recreation/passion in 2021.

Be safe our friends and we look forward to sharing our time and space with you next year.

2020 what a strange year... so far...

PS
(Over the next few weeks... We will be refunding the preregistrations we received. We will be contacting the individuals/teams directly. Thanks again!)

We are always looking for good to people to help out in the tower, flag cars, help in the pits, be the recovery team.

We are tentatively planning races for mid July, August and September. The first race would be July 19th with a test and tune the day before July 18th... if the weather, the landlord and Manitoba Health permit it.

Stay tuned and volunteer!! We appreciate your contributions and support!! :)

(this is an opportunity to get behind the scenes of a pure racing class... where the sport was born at the grass roots (in the dirt!)..)

We are postponing the race weekend, July 18-19th. We thank all the racers and volunteers who supported our restart and we remain obligated to reopening the track as soon as possible. We are shifting our race date target to the August 16th date and if insurance is amendable we will sprinkle in a test and tune before then.

As many of you know our communities were hit with torrential rain in the last few weeks, a 1,000 year rain! Most of our volunteers have been involved in protecting and repairing our communities and/or their own homes. We have been stretched thin. We will be reaching our to our racing community in the next few weeks with opportunities to join in on work parties at the track to bring it back into shape. We hope you understand and can join us.

PASCAR's motto of "Dedicated to Safety and Addicted to Adrenaline" has safety first. Fun is also a key factor for our events, for everyone from the pits to the grandstands. We need a little more time to be sure we can deliver a safe, fun and successful public event.

We also need to everyone to continue to promote the track and its events. Thank you to all who preregistered and we encourage you to continue to champion the site and the PASCAR events to bring others into our sport and our venue. We need more cars to have more fun!!

Thanks again for your support!

Sincerely,
Chad
PASCAR

PS We will automatically roll the preregistration for July's race onto August's race date unless other directed by the registrant.

Yellow light turning red? As mentioned below (July 9th post) we need a critical mass (numbers) of cars and racers to make opening the track worthwhile.

So far we have less than 1/2 the cars preregistered that we need to open the track.

If you intend to race, July 19th, please let us know ASAP... and preregister.

If we can not justify reopening the racetrack on July 19th we will work with the insurance company to get a policy in place for August and September and let everyone know what that will look like. Anyone who has preregistered can let their payment ride and it will be automatically applied as registration for PASCAR race dates in August/September. We can refund any registrations paid for July 19th IF we delay reopening the track and a race team does not want to apply the registration toward a later event.

Stay Calm... we will be racing... the only question now is when!

Green lights! Insurance says we are good to go... and the Souris Glenwood Airport (our landlords) say we are good to go. So all we need now is racers... and good weather. Calling all racers.

We need cash to pay for the insurance and rent!

You can e-transfer to us at [email protected] and/or 204-648-5554. $50 per car... per race day. Donations and in kind support very welcome.

If we do not expect to get a decent car count we will need to postpone the opening of the track.

Good News! Maybe!!

Lol.... We have clearance from the insurance company to race so now we are verifying with Manitoba Health and the Airport that everyone is good if we reopen the track!

We are looking at July 18th, as a test & tune, with Jul 19th as a race day! We have scheduled 2 more race days, August 16th and September 13th.

Spread the word...

and... confirm you are interested/will be participating/spectating. We will be posting events shortly... once we get confirmation from our racers, volunteers, landlord and provincial health authorities.

Stay safe! Our racing depends on Manitoba staying in Phase 3 or getting better. A second wave could cancel us...

BTW... we need to raise the money for the insurance and racing costs about $1,000 per day so sponsorship, contributions and fees paid in advance are greatly appreciated. PM us for details. :)

The Future of PASCAR?

PASCAR Racers & Volunteers we are looking at the summer and beyond and we want to take the pulse of our stakeholders.

How are you doing? How would you like to proceed if we are allowed to reopen and we can get insurance? This year? Next year?

We are scheduling a meeting on Sunday, June 28th, 2020 at 1 PM... online... or if you would like to attend let us know and we can/will confirm a location and safe space/physical distancing. We will be sending out the online meeting link to the racers and volunteers. If you do not get a message in the next few days drop us a line and leave a PM (personal message) with contact info, if you like... we can likely send the link through a PM too.

Congratulations Manitoba! We have weathered the COVID storm well and hopefully it continues to move away from us. The province is opening up to events including outdoor events of less than 100 or less than 300 if the groups can be segregated.

PASCAR would/could fit under these guidelines and we are wanting to see how our racers and volunteers have weathered the storm and if you are tired and beaten or bored and raring to go!!

PASCAR will be calling a meeting in the near future and open it up to those who want to attend - we will be physical social distancing as necessary... (Matt's shop in Brandon) and we will have the option for those wanting/needing to participate remotely, using Zoom meeting software (good for computers, phones, etc.)

Feel free to share your thoughts above the Future of PASCAR and your preference for a meeting time. Do we run this year? Are you willing/able to help? etc.

Premier Brian Pallister announced a draft plan for Phase Three of reopening Manitoba.
