This one was a long time coming but now it’s here and I can officially share this project. I worked with the Staff and Faculty for Education : Education Policy Studies. I was given the original syllabus, videos, PowerPoint presentations and all course materials for the EDU 211 course created to introduce teaching students to Indigenous history and current issues. I was asked to create a painting that future teachers and also future instructors of the course can use to connect with the course material.
Today they launched the project which also connects the key concepts and course materials directly to the correlating symbolism on the painting. It’s so cool. Use the link; tap on the painting to bring up quotes and insights.
My first thank you is to my good friend Sarah Auger who believed in me enough to bring me to the table. I especially want to thank Dr. Rebecca Sockbeson, Dr. Cora Weber-Pillwax, Dr. Evelyn Steinhauer and Dr. Dwayne Donald for trusting me with this amazing bundle. Today was a good day. This is another work that will last much longer than I do and reach farther than I can dream. Such an honour to be part of something that marries traditional art forms with digital ones to help people understand.
