Summer and year-long arts programming for all ages in the Slocan Valley, BC, Canada. The Valhalla Fine Arts Society is a registered charitable organization.

We oversee and manage several arts programs including the Valhalla Summer School of Music (VSSM), the Suzuki Valhalla Institute (SVI), the Valhalla School of Theatre Arts (ViSTA), the Music Explorers Program for young children and the Valhalla Community Concert Series.

🌞💃 Summer Dance is back with Valhalla Fine Arts!

Join us this July at Silverton Memorial Hall for a week of creative dance and movement classes for children and youth of all ages. Daily classes run Monday to Friday and are designed to inspire confidence, creativity, expression, and joy through movement in a supportive and welcoming environment.

✨ Program Schedule & Tuition:
Tiny Dancers (Ages 4–6)
9:30–10:30AM — $75

Explore Dance (Ages 7–9)
10:30AM–12:00PM — $90

Experience Dance (Ages 10–14)
1:00–2:30PM — $105

Peak Dance (Ages 15–18)
2:30–4:30PM — $120

A $30 registration administration fee also applies.

✨ Meet Our Summer Dance Instructor: Janita Frantsi ✨
We are thrilled to welcome back Janita Frantsi back to Valhalla Fine Arts' Summer Dance program this July!

Many local families will remember Janita from last summer, where she proved to be a wonderful fit for our dance program. Her inspiring energy, creativity, and ability to connect with Slocan Valley children and youth made a lasting impression on students and families alike.

Originally from Finland and now based in Edmonton, Janita is a professional dancer, performer, and educator who is passionate about encouraging creativity, individuality, and exploration through movement.

"Creativity is endless!"

This summer, Janita is excited to share her love of dance and explore movement with students of all ages at Valhalla Fine Arts.

Something special is happening this summer at the String Valhalla Institute (SVI) — and you can save by signing up early!

SVI welcomes violin, viola, and cello players ages 5–18 of all backgrounds and abilities. Whether Suzuki-trained or traditionally trained, students will grow through group classes, orchestras, chamber ensembles, and master classes — plus concerts, excursions, and social activities that create an instant musical community around beautiful Slocan Lake in New Denver & Silverton.

🎶 Valhalla Summer School of Music Summer Program 2026

Join Valhalla Fine Arts August 9–14, 2026 in beautiful New Denver and Silverton, BC for a week of music, learning, and collaboration.

Students participate in morning core classes (9am–12pm) with optional afternoon offerings including chamber music, orchestral excerpts, composition, vocal studies, piano collaborative coaching, private lessons, instrument care with luthier Ross Hill, and vocal yoga.

🎻 SOAR – String Orchestra for Adults

Join us August 9–14, 2026 for String Orchestra for Adults! A welcoming summer program for adult novice to intermediate violin, viola, cello, and bass players. Spend the week making music together through orchestra rehearsals, sectional coaching, optional chamber music and enrichment classes, and a final community performance in the beautiful Slocan Valley.

Christine Bootland is a professional cellist who performs regularly with orchestras throughout Alberta and BC. She teaches cello and coaches chamber music at the University of Lethbridge Conservatory of Music. As a teacher, Christine believes that each student is unique and her goal is to help them develop their own individuality and personality in their playing.
Gabe Kastelic is a principal violist with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and is an active orchestral freelancer. As a chamber musician, Gabe performs regularly as a member of the Musaeus String Quartet. Gabriel’s greatest passion in music is teaching. He has held numerous teaching positions over the years and is a highly-sought adjudicator at music festivals.
