This is your reminder to say the things we don’t say often enough.

Tag someone who makes your life feel a little safer, a little lighter, or a little more like you.

Tell them why.

It matters more than you think.

Sometimes there are no visible signs.
Just a quiet shift in how she sees herself.

It can look like doubt where there used to be confidence or fear where there used to be ease.

This is a reminder that support isn’t just for what we can see. It’s for what someone is carrying inside.

By keeping ourselves kind, we can be supporting someone in our community without even knowing what we are doing. Practicing kindness is a skill that benefits everyone.

"She" is more than just a play. "She" is a movement and a community education piece meant to give candid accounts from humans who have been affected. If you have any direct involvement with IPV in your profession, we want to hear from you.

We want to know how supporting survivors has affected you, personally. We promise that we will not ask you any questions about clients personal situations or stories. We promise that your identity will not be disclosed, and that the conversations that you choose to have will allow you to maintain your integrity- both personally and professionally.

This page is only monitored by the writer, and any personal or identifying information will be removed from any accounts before anyone else has access to the stories, characteristics or any other information.

Questions that make her seem like She had some sort of control over the abuse that she endured are victim-blaming and often prevent other women from coming forward.

Abuse is not her fault. She didn't do anything to deserve being harmed.

Let the detectives be the detectives, and the judges be the judges (and that's a whole other post in itself)

Just be kind.

"If it was that bad, she should have asked for help."

Maybe she didn't know it was "that bad." Maybe she didn't know where to turn.

There are a million reasons that women don't ask for help.
It's embarrassing. It's dangerous. It's stigmatizing.

You can be part of the solution without having all of the answers. You can do this by educating yourself and knowing how important your support is.

"What can I do about it?"

It’s a question many people ask when they don’t fully understand what someone is going through.

This series is here to help bridge that gap.

Each post will offer small shifts in language and perspective that can make a big difference in how someone feels supported.

Because support isn’t about fixing;

it’s about understanding.

With all of the lives lost, it is important that we make sure stories are told. Intimate Partner Violence knows no boundaries, there is no specific gender, no age, no income threshold and no culture. It affects all of us and our society whether we realize it or not.

I'm proud to announce that today, we are making our Recorded Performance public so that anyone can view it. Special thanks to our friends at Rusty Halo Productions for the incredible recording.

Please share with your friends, neighbours or anyone that you think might benefit from hearing these stories. It is important to let victims know that they aren't alone, and that what they are experiencing is traumatic for both them and their families. It is important to know that while the system isn't perfect, there is help available and that everyone is deserving of a safe and healthy lifestyle.

Thank you for sharing and please enjoy the show.
