The Dress That Made the Girl is a love letter to my Italian mom, Maria, and a tribute to all the moms out there who traveled to Canada for a better life, for themselves and their children. It is only a brief glimpse of what she went through, but enough to make the play grip your heart. You will also laugh at her bluntness and her three daughters' antics.
I gave Ma the choice of a few pictures for approval. Her initial response was,"Where'd you get those pictures? You kids took all my pictures."😄 But then she said, "You have to choose a picture that suits the story," and then, "Yes, this is a good one because you're in it too and I look sad." ❤️ I hope you will join us at Walterdale Theatre on May 19th and 23rd, 2026, to see the reading. My hope is to see it fully produced in the near future.
