Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria — one of Europe’s
most ancient cities — her deep connection to archaeology, ancient
cultures and natural materials is reflected in her work. With a background in textile engineering and over two decades in
the international fashion industry, Efi eventually returned to her
creative roots. A transformative moment during an ergo therapy
session introduced her to clay, which
quickly became her true
medium — uniting her lifelong passions for color, texture, fire and
form. Currently completing a BFA in Ceramics at Concordia University, she
continues to explore glaze chemistry and lustre techniques through
ongoing research and workshops. Her work is inspired by alchemy,
the power of transformation, and the dance of light on ceramic
surfaces. By creating golden lustre glazes from common materials, she
questions the boundaries between the precious and the humble. Efi has exhibited in several group shows in Montreal since 2017 and
held her first solo exhibition in Rosemère in 2025. Her philosophy is
rooted in play, imperfection and the joy of creating beauty in
everyday life.
