I haven’t posted in a while bit i had an intermission from working on the sculpture; i am working on a little bedside piece for grand princess Kensley to go with her big girl room themed Lemons. After i am making a turtle for grand baby boy Weslee. I will resume the sculpture after. Meanwhile, i will post pics of the projects.

Under the sea

It was a productive day!

As you all know, I am working on my last sculpture. The theme is “Under the sea”. Basically on the outer side, it will be a huge wave, with turquoise, bleues and gold, and on the inside, it’s a glimpse of the bottom of the sea.

Yesterday, I started to make tuber reef, not sure of what to use, but saw a large piece of gypsum that we brought from Palo Duro and thought it would work. I wasn’t sure of what this sediment was called, so Randy and I googled it. Low and behold, it happens to be thousands of years old and found as a layer in the rock and called silk gypsum; it is evaporated sea water that crystallized.

I am using the gypsum for my sea sculpture for the tubers.

we finally moved the sculpture out of the yard. Little did we know how heavy it gotten even by lightning it using pvc instead of rebar. It probably weighs 600-800 lbs before glass is installed! Thanks to and his friend for coming to help my super strong husband Randy Thompson and Allen and John Lakeland RV Ranch we succeeded in moving it to the ranch so we can work on it. The sculpture will be “under the sea” so we will make mosaic fish, sea turtles, crabs, squids, sea stars and coral. You can see the sculpture at by site 5 in the circle drive.
