Today is Convocation. I will walk across the stage and receive my Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree. The journey has been filled with many great memories and wonderful friendships. At times, I wanted to give up, but I persevered with the encouragement of friends and family. I have to thank my friends, family, co-workers, fellow students, and faculty who helped me in ways they don't even know.
Going to University is intimidating and expensive, but even more so when you have been out of school for over 30 years. If you are thinking about going back, I say, do it. It is hard work, but so worth it. To my fellow graduates, congratulations, and I wish you all the best in the future.

This piece had a few problems and ended up not being included in Steeped in Clay.
Sometimes things go wrong and you just have to adapt and try a different approach. I really like how the glaze turned out.

Time in the studio has been hit and miss lately but I am slowly getting back in there. I have several pieces on the go, drying slowly.

Last night I threw a few larger bowls. Only three survived and are drying nicely. Next step is to trim a nice foot ring and wait for them to completely dry before going into the kiln for the bisque firing.

As I wait I am considering how I will decorate them. Will I paint a scene with underglaze or let the glaze sit alone. Or do I play with texture as a carve them? Lots of options, what do you think?

Some works are functional, and some are sculptural. This piece when finished will be both.

Wheel thrown teapot, this will be dried very slowly before it goes into the bisque firing, then final glaze firing.
