Prairie Vox

Prairie Vox Community Choir was founded in 2022 by Lori Mackedenski, who envisioned a welcoming, unauditioned choir for singers of all backgrounds.

Starting with just fifteen members, now there are close to 70 singers in 2026.

I am a retired teacher, having spent most of my career teaching primary grades at MacGregor Elementary. During my teaching days, I was very involved in the direction of school musicals, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have sung in church and school choirs from a young age, and after a long hiatus, have found a wonderful choir family with Prairie Vox! A highlight was performing along side several other choir members at Carnegie Hall, and though visiting New York City was amazing, the connections and friendships built during the trip were just as special! Other interests include crafting, gardening, photography, camping, kayaking and travel. I am on the board of the Canadian Transplant Association, Manitoba Division, as well as Make-A-Wish Canada, Manitoba and Nunavut. I did some post retirement substitute teaching prior to Covid, but make my "fun money" these days as a Faculty Supervisor for the Faculty of Education at Brandon University.

Hi my name is Holly Mason, and I sing alto I was in choir in elementary school and high school, this is my second year in Prairie Vox Choir. I am also a lyric operator at Prairie Alliance Church I am also learning camera which gets me around the music more, I am also learning guitar and and teaching myself how to play Piano/keyboard using easy read piano books and YouTube tutorials. Im also in voice lessons. My main goal at the end of this is to sing on the worship team at Prairie Alliance Church

I have sung in church choirs since I was 10 years old, junior and senior choirs. I sang with Sweet Adeline’s and and had my own quartet. I sang with the Eclectic Choir until the late Ken McLeod retired. In short, I love to sing and I love singing with Prairie Vox!

Prairie Vox Member Spotlight - Meet the Board

From a young age I have always had a strong love for music. Growing up in a Christian community there was always beautiful music surrounding me and I always enjoyed singing along. After I graduated I attended Bible school and there I was a part of the choir as well as took voice lessons for the year. After that I just enjoyed singing as there were no choirs available and I not much of a soloist. Meeting Janine as she was teaching our son piano was a Godsend, she invited me to join the choir and it has been such a blessing.
