The seeds of Trellis Arts & Entertainment
TRELLIS has it’s roots in unlikely places and was born out of passion and necessity. Founder and owner, Nicole Malbeuf, studied fine art and small-scale food production almost simultaneously. Art-making of some form always existed alongside an interest in soil, plants and animals. While working as a gardener and farm labourer for 10 years, Nicole developed a keen interest in the aerial arts, honing her craft to include agricultural content, performing for audiences inside and outside of the GTA. In the hopes of owning her own farm one day, Nicole now devotes her energy into cultivating circus performances for audiences in small towns and rural settings. Nicole aims to engage young and old in the active viewing of- and participating in circus arts. She believes performing arts can live anywhere and with anyone to improve well-being -- to be utilized as a fitness, a mode of creativity and a medium for telling stories. Thus is Trellis’ mission.
