Yesterday was awesome!

A huge thank you to the Peterborough Men's Church Slo Pitch Association (P.M.C.A.) for once again hosting a fantastic Summer Slam tournament, with all proceeds supporting Harmony for Healing's journey toward our $50,000 fundraising goal for the Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge and its Assertive Outreach Su***de Prevention Program.

Together, we raised an incredible $1,770 for this amazing cause.

A special thank you to Montana's Peterborough and Kelseys Peterborough for sponsoring the event, along with every business and individual who donated. From providing food for the teams to contributing the incredible raffle prizes, our community truly showed up in a big way.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Joe, Derek, and their amazing friends and family who worked so hard behind the scenes to organize everything. Events like this do not happen without dedicated volunteers, and your time, effort, and generosity made the day a tremendous success.

Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, donated, and supported Harmony for Healing. Every dollar raised helps us continue making a difference for mental health in our community.

Harmony for Healing surpassed last year’s fundraising efforts during a cheque presentation to Canadian Mental Health Association — Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge.

The community-driven initiative presented a cheque of $18,251.12 to the local CMHA chapter Friday. Last year’s campaign raised more than $15,000.

Funds raised will support CMHA’s Assertive Outreach Su***de Prevention Program.

The 2026 campaign, titled Harmony for Healing: Power of Love — Voices of Youth, marked the third year of the initiative and focused on amplifying youth voices, while raising awareness around youth mental health and su***de prevention.

The awareness campaign ran for six months, featuring youth stories, community conversations, and awareness videos that helped bring attention to the importance of accessible mental health resources for young people.

The campaign concluded with two major community events, a sold out concert celebrating the music of the 1980s at the Market Hall Performing Arts Centre on Feb. 20, and a three-day mental health tattoo fundraiser hosted by Inspiration Tattoo that same weekend.

Since launching the initiative, organizers set a five-year fundraising goal of $50,000 to support the Assertive Outreach Su***de Prevention Program. They are less than $3,000 away from their target after just three years.

During the February concert, organizers announced next year’s show will be the final chapter of Harmony for Healing, so organizers can pursue other city initiatives.

The final production, which will include a concert celebrating the music of the 1990s, will be hosted at Market Hall next February and is already sold out.

From the producer’s POV of this year’s Power of Love show was something special. The stage was filled with some of the coolest kids on the block, pouring their hearts into every note. When the encore hit and the band gave the performance of a lifetime Rockin’ in the Free World, the crowd at Market Hall rose to their feet. A standing ovation from the grooviest audience in the house brought the night to a powerful close.
