Try new things. Get outside your comfort zone.

Now and again I realize that I've been immersed in the electronic music world an awful long time now, and maybe I actually have a perspective or two to offer...

Huge shoutout to Stacy and Grooveyard Records for letting me write my first ever column in the most recent publication of IN THE GROOVE, their free magazine published every two months (quarterly starting in 2027). Ill be writing something for each one going forward centered around the electronic music world, dj'ing, and my thoughts on various aspects of the scene.

SET PLANNING - While I generally have the first three tracks or so figured out before I play a set, I leave the rest of the time open, with room to go in different directions or figure out what the dancefloor wants. That being said, when you're only playing an hour, you need to make it count. If you're a dj, does your thought process change when playing a shorter set? What does your preparation look like?
