Mmm. . . Cello. . . with Sebastian Ostertag and Ron Greidanus.
Ellie Farla will be our student opener!

Cellist Sebastian Ostertag and Concert Pianist Ron Greidanus are returning to the Noon Hour Series stage together for the first time since 2019, presenting a program that explores the intensely expressive and personal music of the romantic period. Sebastian and Ron are thrilled to share Nadia Boulanger's "Doux et Vague" from her three pieces for cello and piano, while Ron will present Sergei Rachmaninoff’s passionate and demanding Etude Tableaux Op. 39 No. 5 in E Flat Minor. The concert will conclude with Johannes Brahms' evocative and powerful Cello Sonata in E minor, Opus 38.

Sebastian and Ron are frequent musical collaborators, with concerts ranging from period performances on Baroque instruments, to house concerts of chamber music, and conceptual projects involving choir and solo cello.

Today we remember Sharon Isaac, filmmaker, educator, storyteller, mother, and part of the Orchestra North Owen Sound Family. Orchestra North had the wonderful opportunity to have Sharon lead our Songscaping Stories program, where our students created music and artwork for “How the Rainbow was Made” and “Rainbow Crow.” Sharon was patient and caring as Orchestra North strove to include stories and traditions of the many First Nations communities in our region.

We will miss Sharon’s positivity, and kindness towards our teaching artists, and students, and the entire Orchestra North community would like to extend their deepest condolences to Sharon’s family and friends.

Miigwech Sharon for everything you’ve done to make the world a better, sunnier, more colourful place.
