Bristol Woodturning

Breaking a few rules again. This is an end grain Ambrosia Maple bowl about 12 inches in diameter. Once again it appears that procrastination has paid off as sitting on the damp ground for most of the summer has resulted in some spalting. Included is the very unstable pith wood from the "center" of the tree. No cracking, so far.

UPDATE: This fundraiser raised $1300 for a great cause thanks to all.

All proceeds will be donated to Bouffe Pontiac (the food bank)

As you may recall from my previous post Bristol Woodturning is hosting a FUNDRAISER in aid of Bouffe Pontiac, the food bank.

When:August 22, 2026 from 9a.m to 1pm.

Where: at the Marché Bristol Market Coronation Hall 206 Chem. River Bristol Quebec.

Changes: There were a little over 50 pieces offered, that number has grown to over 70 pieces thanks to the generosity of yet another woodturner.

I'm excited to have most of the larger Ambrosia 🍁 maple bowls green turned sealed and drying. The sad part about this is that they will not likely be ready to finish turn until late fall or even early 2027.

Here are a couple of new items finished this week . Both are butternut bowls the larger is 17 x 4 inches tall and the smaller is 14 x5.5 inches. Both are finished with tung oil.
