One of the things we love most about caring for animals is that every day is different. The bonds our animal care team forms with the animals are built through patience, trust, and lots of time spent together.

With his shaggy coat, impressive horns, and laid-back personality, Hughy is one of the fluffiest faces you'll find at Greenview Park & Zoo.

🐾 Species: Highland Cow
📍 Native to: Scotland

Originally bred to withstand the rugged Highlands of Scotland, Highland cattle are known for their long, thick coats that help protect them from harsh weather. That iconic hair isn't just for looks—it's what makes them one of the hardiest cattle breeds in the world.

🌍 Conservation status: Not endangered. Highland cattle are a heritage breed that has become popular around the world thanks to their gentle nature and distinctive appearance.

Whether he's grazing, relaxing in the sunshine, or showing off those famous bangs, Hughy always seems to capture everyone's attention—and camera roll. 📸

One of the first things you'll notice about Hughy is his calm and curious personality. He's the kind of animal that makes visitors stop, smile, and stay a little longer.

🏡🐾 Shenzi and Zuri have officially moved into their new home!

If you’ve been following their journey, you’ll know just how much these two spotted hyenas have grown since arriving at Greenview. Now they’ve got a brand new habitat to explore!

You can find them between Brewster the bear and the white lions on your next visit. 👀

Also known as mountain lions, pumas, and panthers, cougars are among North America's most powerful and adaptable wild cats.

As apex predators, they play an important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems by helping keep wildlife populations balanced.

Did you know a cougar can leap up to 18 feet vertically and as far as 40 feet horizontally in a single bound? That's one impressive cat!

Most people think the giant fan of feathers behind a peacock is its tail... but that's not actually true 👀

Those stunning feathers are called upper tail coverts — specialized display feathers used to attract attention and impress potential mates. Their actual tail is much smaller and hidden underneath, helping support the impressive fan when it's raised.

Nature is full of surprises, and sometimes the things we think we know aren't quite what they seem! ✨
