Last open mic of the year! We have had so so many incredible performances this year and such a dedicated audience who shows up to listen every month—thank you ⭐️

Special shout out to for sharing poems from her book No One Knows Us There and opening such an emotional space in the room.

Big thank you to our Snaps writers who came out and read their pieces for us. We were lucky to hear five of the published pieces from issue no. 07: “I met an angel on Peel street,” “Dear Montreal,” “An Elegy for Winter Street,” and “On Love and Pastries Exponentialis.” If you were not able to join us, check out their pieces on our site now (mcswaypoetrycollective.com).

Meet our feature poet for our last open mic on April 13th, 8pm

Jessica Bebenek is a q***r interdisciplinary poet and educator from Tkaronto (Toronto) who now splits her time between Tiohtià:ke (Montreal) and an off-grid shack on unceded Anishinaabeg territory. She works as a risograph printer and bookmaker at Concordia University’s Centre for Expanded Poetics, where she organized the international Occult Poetics Symposium. In 2021, Bebenek was a finalist for the Writers’ Trust of Canada’s Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers. Her writing has been nominated for the Journey Prize and Pushcart Prize, and she is the author of seven poetry chapbooks, including I Remember the Exorcism. No One Knows Us There is her first book of poetry.
