Join Cinema Politica and Alternatives this Monday at Cinema de Sève for the Montreal premiere of WHEN THE TIDE GOES OUT, followed by a Q&A with director Ajay Bhardwaj!

A generation of local cultural activists reflect on their lives and activism in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland. Their memories of intercommunity activism centre on an episode of self-organization by Punjabi Canadian farmworkers, most of them women. Unlike rallies and picket lines, the gendered experience of organizing did not easily lend itself to visual documentation. Forty years later, the images that remain serve as tangible evidence, shaping the movement’s memory: what was not documented in the movement’s archives remains absent from its collective memory.

This event is presented in collaboration with Alternatives and Global Solidarity Against Fascism (GSAF).
