Since the Benito Bowl, a lot of you have been challenging something uncomfortable: “Latino” isn’t one clean identity.

It’s language. It’s colonization. It’s diaspora. It’s Africa. It’s Indigenous roots. It’s Europe. It’s migration. It’s layered.

That reflection brought us back to ,  a photo series we created in Montréal as a visual conversation where people defined themselves in their own words. Afro-Caribbean. Afro-Latinx. Indigenous. White. Mixed. Second-generation. Artists. Daughters. Sons. Q***r voices. People navigating duality daily.

Then we hosted Las Hermanas, an in-person conversation about womanhood, colorism, invisibility, and the pressure of being “not enough.”

We heard:
“I’m too Black to be Latina.”
“I’m Latina here, but not there.”
“I’m proud, but I’m tired.”

Because Latino identity isn’t a monolith.
Over 130 million Afro-descendants live across Latin America. That history shaped the culture,  even when it’s erased from the narrative.

And Montréal? Layered too. So when we say “Latino” here, what do we actually mean? Nationality? Language? Skin tone?

What narrative about what we think we understand about Latinos needs to evolve so we can truly connect beyond nationality?

Tell us.
Save this.
Share it with someone who lives between worlds.

Hey, so we’re in Medellín for the week, taking this time to do more research for our non-profit . As you already know, TRAVELING is a big part of how we design, create, and move.

Coming from a hood where we never imagined going outside of MTL, the first time we took a plane really showed us that the sky is NOT the limit.

We’ll share more of our trip soon, but for now we wanna leave you with this beautiful image from inside the . This building was originally built in the 1930s as Medellín’s old Municipal Palace, designed in a strong Art Deco style. It’s now a national monument, and over time it’s been reinforced for safety, which is why this colorful anti-seismic structure sits right in the middle of the courtyard.

And it’s not even an art installation 😅 (I searched the web for real, I was confused too). But it reminded us of something important: everything is design, even the things we don’t always notice.

So who’s down to join us on a trip from Montréal → Medellín, guided by Le Marathon?

We didn’t just launch a film. We designed a cultural experience.

reXistence by , in collaboration with the , .coalition.media , , is about care, accountability, and truth.

We combined film, breathwork, and panel discussions, and created a set of conversation cards to hold space where collective trauma meets connection, and where the well-being of Black communities becomes a necessary dialogue.

This wasn’t a premiere. It was a call to mobilize differently.

FARIHA RÓISÍN  X LE MARATHON CRÉATIF - WHO IS WELLNESS FOR?

Join us for an intimate evening with writer and multidisciplinary artist , presented by

Rooted in Fariha’s acclaimed book Who Is Wellness For?, this gathering invites an open, unfiltered conversation about what it truly means as a creative today to dream, travel, and create. The discussion will be moderated by Charles Hall and explores the values that shape everything we do at Le Marathon Créatif.

Fariha’s work unpacks how today’s wellness culture often borrows from Black, Brown, and Indigenous traditions while excluding the very communities who created them.

Through their idea of a “nurturance culture,” Fariha invites us to reimagine wellness as a space rooted in care, inclusivity, and accessibility for everyone, no matter your background, wealth, or ability.

This experience mixes reading, dialogue, and community exchange. You’ll walk away with new perspectives and if you want to go deeper, you can grab a signed copy of Fariha’s book (thanks to our friends at .bookshop) and join their writing workshop on October 15.
