Afro Drag: Reclaiming Melodeis marked our first time back at Cafe Cleopatra since our debut back in 2019. To say this show was a success would be an understatement. Thanks to our audience and community who truly came out to support Black art. We couldn't have don it without you!

This is an opportunity for allies to give back to the Black community by providing labour and skills to ensure the success and longevity of Afro Drag. Professional experience is appreciated but not required! If you are interested in filming or taking photos with your phone camera we would love to hear from you!

We are looking for volunteers to fill the following roles:
Graphic designer
Sound and lighting tech
Door Person/People
Photographer
Videographer

Please note that the venue is NOT wheelchair accessible and is up two flights of stairs. This is a masked event. We look forward to hearing from you!

C'est l'occasion pour les alliés blancs de rendre la pareille à la communauté noire en fournissant la main-d'œuvre et les compétences nécessaires pour assurer le succès et la longévité d'Afro Drag. Les photographes et les vidéastes n'ont pas besoin d'expérience professionnelle. Si vous êtes en mesure de filmer en bonne qualité sur votre téléphone pendant une partie du spectacle, cela peut également être utile.

The deadline to apply to perform at the next edition of Afro Drag is approaching! To celebrate our 7th year, we are launching an open call for performers of any genre (poetry, spoken work, lip sync, burlesque etc) to present their work through a drag aesthetic.
For this show we will be debuting Montreal's first Black drag king boy band! If you are interested in joining the band or performing solo, applications are due Sunday, January 12th at 11:59pm. See link in bio for form.

Please note that participation in this show is limited to racially Black people and people whose ethnicity is of indigenous African descent.

Announcement! The next edition of Afro Drag, Montreal’s only drag showcase featuring a full cast of Black and Afro Descendant performers, is happening Saturday, February 22nd at the legendary Cafe Cleopatra! To celebrate our 7th year, we are launching an open call for performers of any genre (poetry, spoken work, lip sync, burlesque etc) to present their work through a drag aesthetic. The theme of this show is Black music. That means performances popularized by Black artists. Compensation will be offered at a rate to be determined.

For this show we are also looking for artists to join Montreal's first Black drag king boy band!

Applications are due Sunday, January 12th at 11:59pm. See link in bio for form.

Annonce! La prochaine édition d’Afro Drag, le seul showcase drag à Montréal mettant en vedette d’artistes noirs et afro-descendants, aura lieu le samedi 22 février au légendaire Café Cléopâtre ! Pour célébrer notre 7ème année, nous lançons un appel ouvert aux artistes de tout genre (poésie, œuvre parlée, lip sync, burlesque, etc.) pour présenter leur travail à travers une esthétique drag. Le thème de ce spectacle est la musique noire. Cela signifie des chansons popularisées par des artistes noirs. Une compensation sera offerte selon un taux à déterminer.

Pour ce spectacle, nous recherchons également des artistes pour se joindre au premier "boy boand" de drag kings noirs de Montréal !
