In 2014 Yadir Quintana had a third solo exhibition with the gallery already six years away. The exhibition was titled Mirroirs and this great piece is titled Chapter One , feuilles d'argent et huile sur bois/silver leaf and oil on wood 10×8"
Here is some of the accompanying text for his exhition :
***For “Mirrors”, Quintana has made a group of paintings starting out with a silver leafed ground on wooden panels. The ground then has oil paint applied to it and rubbed off in different stages of removal, some to leave only a slight tint of color, others to create depth and richness on the panel. The panels are then left to dry for a few weeks. Staring at them and wondering about whom each would reflect, a portrait of an individual begins to be formed. Areas of each panel are masked off and additional paint is applied. Each panel begins taking on a life and identity of its own as it evolves. Hints have been given with color, texture, and titles. However, it is up to the viewer to decide whom each one mirrors.
