Will artists soon be replaced by machines?

For its series “Teaching, learning and creating in the age of AI,” UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal spoke with co-researchers Sofian Audry and Jean Dubois, as well as professor Pier-Luc de Chantal.

“Jean Dubois does not subscribe to alarmist scenarios about the future of human creativity. Like Sofian Audry, he believes the most interesting question is how artists will adapt to this new technology.”

[DEMO71] 🪩 When a musician improvises with AI ━ “Résonance Latente” is a series of interactive audiovisual (A/V) improvisational stage performances between David Drouin—electronic musician and student member—and an artificial intelligence agent responsible for the visual counterpart.

The performances took place in the context of a research creation project exploring the potential of machine learning techniques to augment A/V improvisational capacities.

This project was conducted as part of a master’s degree at the Faculté de communication de l'UQAM.
