"In memory of Mathilda. This June 2022, I completed the systematization of all the artworks of the world of transastion art in eleven years. Many art objects are lost forever, only photographs remain in memory of them. For example, ceramic figurines with animals. Like a child, I opened the magic box of archives. As a result - more than a thousand photos that were taken in various parts of the world, and which I forgot about. "This small collage work, on which paper squares were painted over in several layers, is a study of colours in the blue and indigo colour spectrums. Acrylic was used, mainly on black but with blue and purple too, then iridescents were added and finally a silvery iridescent, for more reflectivity. Part of my Corona-Stories: Tranquil Cities, Longing to go Outside. - BEING CREATIVE GIVES ME A FEELING OF BOUNDLESSNESS AND LIMITLESSNESS - Especially during the corona lockdown during the spring of 2020, it was very important to be able to experience this feeling of freedom. This painting is inspired by my own corona-diary. My thoughts about this period inspired me to use parts of the text in the city with sheet metal. The texts in the painting are not only about the surreal experience of the deserted streets in the normally crowded cities, but also about how strange it is when you suddenly lose your freedom. The freedom to go where you want, to visit whoever you want, whenever you want. The atmosphere and appearance of the artwork are, as with a real city, strongly influenced by the incidence of (sun) light. The sheet metal texts are difficult to capture in the photo. They are therefore not clearly visible on these photos. The changing incidence of light during the day ensures that the texts stand out more or less. This changes the painting during the course of the day." - Elise Eekhout
