Sometimes the best part of building the Realm of Rivers Edge is getting to share a little magic.

When we spotted fairy wings and unicorns at Costume Creation day we decided to let this young visitor in on a secret…

This September, Adira the Unicorn will be making a special appearance at the Mission Ren Faire.

The look on her face when she found out was absolutely priceless.

Between fairies, pirates, knights, Vikings, mermaids, wandering bards, and now a unicorn, the Realm of River’s Edge is becoming more magical every day.

Costume Creation Day is over… and we’re still recovering from how incredible it was.

From the first racks rolling in during setup… to the moment the doors opened and the crowds arrived… this was watching the Realm of Rivers Edge community coming to life.

Knights. Pirates. Fairies. Rogues. Families. First-time Faire goers. Amazing costumes. Controlled chaos. 😂

More importantly, this was a fundraiser for the Mission Ren Faire and monies raised go into building the realm: fencing, facilities, entertainers, infrastructure, and all the details that help bring this world to life.

And at the end of it all, our volunteers, the steering committee and a few board members sat down together to celebrate and marvel at the generous support of this beautiful community and the adventurous spirit of fun and play that threaded thru the day.

Thank you to everyone who came, volunteered, dressed up or didn’t, shared videos, donated, supported the event, and helped us all feel the magic brewing.

We were so excited when one of our entertainers stopped by Costume Creation Day this weekend…

Meet an amazing creator of fantasy-inspired folk music and sea shanties inspired by D&D realms, tavern tales and wandering adventure.

This September, you’ll find him performing on our stages and roaming throughout the Realm of River’s Edge bringing musical magic to the Faire.

Yesterday, members of board and the Ren Faire committee visited HubCo Brewing to thank them for becoming a Crown Jewel Sponsor of the 2026 Mission Renaissance Faire.

What began as a sponsorship became something much more personal. HubCo Brewing has shown this Faire extraordinary kindness, generosity, and belief in what we are building together here in Mission. Their support is helping bring major entertainment to the Realm… and we are thrilled to finally share… that the legendary .ca The Whiskey Dicks will be performing a full 90-minute concert on Sunday at Faire.

But more than that, HubCo is a beautiful example of the power of community. Real people supporting local art, local culture, and local dreams.

This video sound isn’t perfect, but we wanted to show you when Glenn thanks Jenna from HubCo and presents her with our certificate and flowers. You can hear the emotion in his voice and it really reflects how all of us involved with the the Faire feel about the support we have received to bring the Realm of Rivers Edge to life. We decided to leave it exactly as it happened and share with all of you.

Community is the heart of this Faire.

The first time she asked me to a Ren Faire, I said dressing up was out of my comfort zone. She stared at me and said,

“Excuse me… out of your comfort zone? What have you taught me my whole life? Never let fear stop us from trying something new?”

That was rather difficult to argue with. So I went and I’ve never looked back.

And somewhere between pirates, music, ridiculous laughter, and spending time with my daughter… I understood something:

A Ren Faire isn’t really about costumes or dressing up.

They’re about permission.
Permission to play.
To imagine.
To be brave.
To spend time together.
To become part of a story.

For this Mother’s Day weekend we are offering discounted tickets so you can bring your mom, your daughter, your son, your chosen family, or someone you simply want to make memories with.

Special price tickets are available Saturday May 9 at 8am to Monday May 10 at midnight.

And yes… apparently stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to many wonderful things. Now both my daughter and I are part of helping to build the Realm.
