Many years ago I started making ornaments for friends and family and it became a yearly tradition. Last October I started looking for an idea for this years ornament....I had 25 to make. I came across Quilted Fabric Ornaments & Kimekomi ornaments and decided to give them a try...............the rest is history. The quilted ornaments are made with many little pieces of fabric, precisely cut, folde

d and pinned one piece at a time onto sytrofoam shapes. I have branched out to make custom personalized ornaments for various occasions. I have recently started making my own line of Manitoulin Souvenir Ornaments. Here are my ornaments so far for the OG Club 12 week challenge. The challenge begins with participants choosing 3 fabrics. These 3 fabrics must be used on each of the ornaments, occasionally some of us will add in another fabric.
The 3 fabrics I chose were, Christmas green, Christmas red and a burlap fabric with red/green berries with gold accents. Every Monday morning one of the OG executives sends out an email with the name of the pattern for that week. Each of us will post pics every week of our ornament on our Club page. It is so much fun............only 4 more weeks until it is finished. What do ya think guys...............I think I will make a set of each of my kids.

Here is a pattern I wanted to try. 2 are made with the same fabric but colors are reversed. The blue and white is my 2 color version. I made changes to the pattern so it is not so busy and I used a button on each side that was from my Mom's button stash. Those buttons are over 25 yrs old LOL (I love it) . My mother never tossed a buttons, zippers anything she thought she could reuse for years.......I now reap the benefits of her thrifty ways.

Well good morning everyone from beautiful Manitoulin Island, Ont. Even though it is mid September our summer weather is still holding on for us.............it is a wonderful 22C here at 11:45 a.m.
The old adages about "With time comes wisdom" and "practice makes perfect" is certain true in my case lol. After about a year of making ornaments using balls purchased from Amazon and Temu I have made an earth shattering discovery........................are you ready for this....................when it says ______ # of 3" balls for $X.. THE BALLS ARE NOT ALL THE SAME SIZE also "the POLE marks are not always TRUE. No wonder I have had issues with some patterns......grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Time and practice has certainly made me wiser and more precise LOL.
Lesson learned..........the paper fold method of measuring on every single ball.
I wrap a new paper strip around the equator of every ball and fold it for the 4, 6, or 8 sections I need. Not only does this give me equal sections, it also gives me the true polar points. Hmm the 5 section will take some work to figure out...........
Oh well..........onward and upward. Working on a 2 color Celestrial Cross........will share when I get it finished.
