Forest City Irish Fest A celebration of Irish music, culture and heritage in the heart of Wortley Village in London, Ontario.

The first annual Forest City Irish Fest will be September 19, 2026 ☘️ The inaugural Forest City Irish Fest will take place on September 19th, 2026 on the Green in Wortley Village. It will showcase Irish traditional music, singing, dancing, storytelling, sports and much more.

Featured Performer: In 2010, Michael Darcy packed up his songs and guitar, left his home in the hills of Co. Clare, Ireland and journeyed westward across the ocean to Toronto, Canada. 🇮🇪 🇨🇦

Drawing from the well of rich Irish music that he grew up with, Michael’s songs bear the earthy tones of his west Clare roots and the freshness of a newly cut path, Americana.

Irish Music Magazine raved that “Darcy’s originals sit so comfortably within the genre that you’d swear they’ve been around for generations.”

Writer and guest speaker: Born in Dublin, Ireland, Emma is an award winning novelist, screenwriter, playwright, and literary historian.

Her 2010 novel Room was a finalist for the Booker Prize and an international best-seller. Donoghue's 1995 novel Hood won the Stonewall Book Award and Slammerkin won the Ferro-Grumley Award.

You can see Room by Emma Donoghue September 18th at the Hyland Cinema during the Welcome Reception at 6:00pm. This includes a reading and Q&A, followed by an intimate performance by Michael Darcy & The Atlantic Tramps. 📖 🎶

Featured Performer: At a young age, Seán Gavin was encouraged in music by his father Mick, a fiddler from Co. Clare, and his brother Michael, a multi-instrumentalist. At age 12, he started work on the uilleann pipes with the late Al Purcell, former pupil of piper Leo Rowsome.

Seán Gavin is now one of the most highly regarded Irish musicians of his generation, and in 2016 he became the first musician born outside Ireland to win the prestigious Seán Ó Riada gold medal.

You can see Seán perform on September 19th at the Forest City Irish Fest with Michael Gavin and Don Penzien on the Orzech Stage at 11:15am, and on the Azzoli Stage at 3:00pm.

Seán will also be hosting a traditional Irish seisiún with Michael Gavin at German Canadian Club London at 8:00pm. 🎶 🎸 🪗

Featured Performer: Paddyman, real name Declan O'Sullivan, was born and raised in Co. Kildare, Ireland, not far from Irish ballad legend Christy Moore. 🇮🇪

Over the last decade, Paddyman has performed live to over 1 million people and was the first Irish Musical Artist to be awarded the prestigious GOLDEN VISA in 2021 by Dubai Arts and Culture Authority in recognition for his contribution to the Arts in UAE.

You can see Paddyman perform on September 19th at the Forest City Irish Fest with Geraldine MacWilliams on the Azzoli Stage at 1:00pm, and the Beaver Stage at 5:00pm. 🎶 🎸 🪗

All the way from Ireland and the UK, the Forest City Irish Fest is proud to present three world-class Irish storytellers. 🇮🇪

Christine Genders
A breathtaking storyteller of traditional tales, Christine is currently the storyteller in residence at the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum in Lichfield, UK. Christine has performed at venues across the UK and Ireland, and her captivating storytelling keeps her audience on the edge of their seat.

Maria Whatton
Winner of Outstanding Female Storyteller of Great Britain in 2013 (British Awards for Storytelling Excellence) she is renowned for her compelling, vibrant performances. She has a vast knowledge of traditional stories passed down by her Irish father and grandmother which she brings to life with her lucid, engaging style.

Michael Bird
Scottish-born storyteller and musician Michael Bird is now based in Co. Antrim. A man of mystery and delectable delights, Michael brings a lifetime of tales and songs rich with wit, wisdom, and tradition.

You can see all three of these professional storytellers on September 19th, starting at 11:00am at the Landon Library.📚

On Forest City Irish Fest Eve (September 18th), the Hyland Cinema will host a special screening of the Irish movie, Once. This movie is at 9:00pm, following the Welcome Reception, which is also at the Hyland Cinema from 5:30-8:30pm. 🎥 🍿

This is not a night to be missed! The Welcome Reception will feature the acclaimed writer, Emma Donoghue, and the Clare man himself, Michael Darcy, on vocals & guitar. 📕 🎸 🇮🇪

ONCE - A vacuum repairman (Glen Hansard) moonlights as a street musician and hopes for his big break. One day a Czech immigrant (Marketa Irglova), who earns a living selling flowers, approaches him with the news that she is also an aspiring singer-songwriter. The pair decide to collaborate, and the songs that they compose reflect the story of their blossoming love.
