Comet 220P/McNaught after the recent outburst. This was captured in the early morning hours of Tuesday August 11 with a total of 70 minutes of exposure.

The last image was my setup that night. On the left was my 400 mm lens and camera in a star tracker, capturing 220P/McNaught. On the right was my 14mm lens and camera capturing the Perseids - there were a few nice ones that might, but that will be for another post!

There's fun to be had, even though I was nowhere near the path of totality, and there was 95% cloud cover! The sun made an occasional peek through the clouds during what was a 27% partial eclipse where I happened to be. Love the moodiness from the clouds.

My total solar eclipse image taken on April 8, 2024 in the town of Magog, Quebec. What a wonderful experience!

There will be another total solar eclipse on August 12, visible in Greenland, Iceland and Spain. Best of luck to all the eclipse chasers!

I won't be chasing this eclipse. I'll instead be relaxing in the wilderness of Ontario, getting intimate with nature, go hiking in the woods, kayaking in pristine lakes, watching and photographing the loons, Milky Way, and the Perseid meteor shower!
