History has a way of finding the right home.

Yesterday, after a full day of technical setup, lighting, and rehearsals, Cassel Miles and director Sandy McFadden took a moment to soak in the remarkable surroundings of Toronto’s historic Todmorden Mills.

From the iconic smokestack that has stood watch over this site for generations to the beautifully preserved Papermill Theatre, every corner of Todmorden Mills is a reminder that stories matter - and that preserving them matters even more.

By the end of the day, the stage was set, the lights were focused, and JOSIAH had found its place in this extraordinary space.

An empty stage. A lighting plot. A taped-out performance space. A script in hand.

It’s amazing how quickly a theatre begins to come alive.

Today, Cassel Miles and director Sandy McFadden spent the day at Todmorden Mills Playhouse fine-tuning every detail before JOSIAH takes the stage this week. From walking sightlines and checking lighting cues to making sure every moment lands exactly where it should, these are the finishing touches that audiences rarely get to witness - but they’re an essential part of bringing this powerful story to life.

In just a couple of days, these empty seats will be filled with people experiencing the remarkable true story of Josiah Henson.

THIS IS IT! Rain or shine - find us tonight at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival... We are so excited to be a part of the kick off! Do you have your tickets yet?

Tonight is the first show of our Spotlight Series! We can't wait to welcome the JOSIAH team to Prescott!

Because our Spotlight shows are one-night-only, we want to ensure the performance goes on rain or shine, so in the event of extreme weather, the performance will move indoors to St. Andrew’s Church.
