Wow - what a night we had on Thursday! Our Drawn to Nature art party came together because of so many amazing people, and we’d like to thank everyone who made it happen 🎨🌙

Huge thanks to our artists:
Taylor Tye (.designs) and Beth McCaldon () for bringing so much creativity and inspiration into the room.

Shout-out to our vendors & partners:
Rideau Acres Campground and their staff for hosting us so warmly.
Diamond Productions for the DJ booth + good vibes all evening.
Capers Custom Catering for keeping us well fed.

And a really big thank-you to the City of Kingston for believing in our idea and supporting the vision of an art party out in the rural community. Without their support, this night wouldn’t have been possible.

Finally, to everyone who came out - thank you for drawing, laughing, snacking, not being scared to try new things and be vulnerable, and just hanging out with us. And to our volunteers, you kept it all running in the background - we’re so grateful.

Kingston showed up with creativity, community, and heart. Can’t wait to do it again ✨

Our art party isn’t just about making things - it’s about meeting the people who shape Kingston’s art scene 🎨

We are excited and grateful to introduce Beth McCaldon, the artist behind Miss Moss () who will be at Drawn to Nature sharing her process and works.

Beth transforms preserved moss into living-inspired works of art. Rooted in a deep appreciation for nature and the property she calls home, her pieces capture the textures, tones, and quiet beauty of the natural world.

Each creation is thoughtfully composed using preserved moss and organic elements, bringing the essence of the forest indoors. Inspired by her surroundings, she seeks to preserve the fleeting moments found in the woods, fields, and landscapes around her, framing them in ways that invite viewers to pause and reconnect with nature. Her work celebrates the harmony between art and environment, offering a sustainable and timeless way to bring the outdoors in.

✨ Come meet Beth at Drawn to Nature and get a chance to ask questions, see her process and get inspired - Sept 18, Rideau Acres Campground.

Our art party isn’t just about making things - it’s about meeting the people who shape Kingston’s art scene 🎨

We are excited and grateful to introduce Taylor Tye, the artist behind Jackpine Designs (.designs) who will be at Drawn to Nature sharing her process and works.

Taylor is a multi-disciplinary artist with specializations in beadwork, lino-printing, sewing, music and beyond. All of Taylor’s creations are rooted in land, language, and lineage. Of Anishinaabe and Celtic-French Canadian ancestry, she draws inspiration from the waters and seasons of her home in Eastern Ontario. Taylor works as an alternative secondary school program coordinator and is a graduate student at Queen’s. When she’s not behind a desk creating or working, she’s off on an adventure in the stern of a canoe or hiking, fishing or simply taking photos with her dog and partner, learning from and loving the land.

✨ Come meet Taylor at Drawn to Nature and get a chance to ask questions, see her process and get inspired - Sept 18, Rideau Acres Campground.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to draw Spring's Hidden Kingdoms with us at Fine Balance Brewing on May 8th! 🎨🍻

It was such a great night of drawing, chatting and meeting new people (and seeing a lot of familiar faces too!)

Special shoutout to Fine Balance Brewing for hosting us in their beautiful space - can’t wait to do it again! And of course thank you to Lichen Fairytales for the beautiful poster artwork.

🎉 Meet Karen, Our Piñata-Making Pro! 🇲🇽✨

We’re thrilled to introduce Karen Zacarias, the instructor behind this Saturday’s piñata decorating workshop at the Tett Centre! (and also our talented photographer!)

Karen is a Mexican Industrial and UX Designer with a deep love for creativity and hands-on making. She grew up in a family of five where piñata-making was more than just a craft - it was a cherished tradition led by her mom for every birthday.

For the first time ever, Karen is sharing that tradition with others - blending her design skills with the colorful, joyful spirit she grew up with.

✨ If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at making a piñata, this is your chance to learn from someone who’s lived the tradition and brings a whole lot of heart (and color) to the process.

🎟 Spots are limited — grab your tickets now!

📅Saturday, May 17, 2-5pm, Tett Centre - Activity Room

Just one week until Spring's Hidden Kingdoms drawing party kicks off and we'd like you to meet Lichen Fairytales (Courtney Nicolas) who created the whimsical and magical artwork for our event! We've been big fans of Courtney's critters and nature-inspired art for a while and are so excited and thankful that we could collaborate for our May event.

"My name is Courtney and I'm the creator of Lichen Fairytales Art. I'm a multimedia artist who creates sculptures, illustrations and wearable art inspired by nature.

I love to experiment with new mediums and teach crafting workshops.

In my spare time, you can find me playing in the garden, walking in the forest or doodling on my iPad".

Come meet Courtney and draw Spring's Hidden Kingdoms with us next Thursday, May 8 at Fine Balance Brewing.
